In 2004 the European Urban Research Association (EURA) and the Urban Affairs Association (UAA) joined forces to organise an international conference on City Futures. Held in Chicago the conference explored future scenarios for cities and, as the conference was viewed as a success, the two associations decided to establish a five-year cycle of City Futures International Conferences.

If you represent or are involved with community, work in local or state government, involved in road safety and transport planning, or are generally interested in better planning and healthier cities - we invite you to register and join us. Urban responses to Covid-19 are being studied by Mistra Urban Futures as part of the Sida-funded Consolidation Year. Several articles are being prepared and in July an Urban Thinkers Campus was organised within UN-Habitat/ World Urban Campaign's initiative. This new AHURI hybrid one-day conference, Uncharted urban futures: Australian cities post pandemic, will examine Australia’s population dynamics as a result of the COVID-19 crisis; the delivery of critical social infrastructure to support our changing cities and the particular urban transport challenges emerging from the pandemic. The Urban Futures New Zealand Conference and the New Zealand Infrastructure Funding Conference are co-located. By registering for one conference you will also be entitled to attend sessions at the other conference.
